business-translator was set up in Zagreb in 2011. We started with Croatian and Serbian as our primary language pairs and expanded as demand grew. Most of what we do is B2B translation work for Croatian companies dealing with international partners, investors or cross-border regulatory requirements.

Croatia's EU accession in 2013 changed the translation market considerably. The volume of directive transposition work alone kept the legal and compliance sector busy for several years. We were positioned for it and our regulatory translation team grew substantially during that period.

We are a team of 14 specialist translators. Half have backgrounds in law, finance or technical fields before moving into translation. The other half came through linguistics programmes and developed subject specialisms over years of practice in specific industries.

Everything is delivered digitally. All standard formats are accepted. We work with Word, PDF, InDesign, XML-based formats, XLIFF and most CMS export formats. For e-commerce clients we also handle spreadsheet-format catalogue exports.
