Online shop content, product catalogues and customer-facing copy adapted for EU markets.
Expanding an online shop into a new EU market is not just a matter of translating the product descriptions. The payment terminology, the consumer rights text, the return policy, the shipping information, the checkout instructions and the confirmation emails all have to work in the target language and comply with the consumer law of the target country.
We have worked with Croatian e-commerce retailers entering the German, Austrian, Italian, French and Polish markets. The German market in particular has very specific consumer protection requirements that go beyond what is mandated by the standard EU consumer rights directive. Getting these right avoids regulatory friction and reduces customer service load.
For large catalogues we work in XLIFF, CSV or spreadsheet export formats that can be reimported directly into WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento or a bespoke e-commerce platform. We do not require clients to copy and paste hundreds of product descriptions from a Word document into their CMS.
Product description localisation goes beyond translation. A product marketed in Croatia as having a particular feature may need its benefits framed differently for a German buyer who has different purchasing criteria for the same product category. We work with clients who want localisation and not just translation.
"The German catalogue launch was clean. No customer service issues about text, which is exactly what you want."
